Worked example
A scanned report has a quarter-inch border around the text. Enter 18 points and test the crop on a single page. Check page numbers near the edge before applying the same margin to the whole file.
Does cropping permanently hide information?
No. Cropping changes the visible page area; the hidden content remains in the file. To remove confidential information, redact it. A crop must also leave a nonempty page: 72 points is one inch on each side.
