Worked example
For a report you intend to send, choose a new password of at least eight characters, encrypt the file, then reopen the downloaded copy to confirm that the reader asks for the password.
What happens if I lose the password?
There is no recovery key. Keep the original PDF and save the password separately. The password can use up to 39 UTF-8 bytes; some non-English characters count as more than one byte.
