Two deposits with identical amounts can refer to different settlements. The payout reconciliation workspace includes a six-row sample that shows why amount-only matching fails.
1. Map the same three fields on both sides
Use one account and equivalent periods. Select the payout and bank exports, then map bank reference, currency and signed amount. Preserve the exact reference, including case. A fee reversal or refund may legitimately be negative.
2. Predict the sample result
- BK-101: USD 120.05 appears on both sides. This is a match.
- BK-102: USD 85.30 versus USD 83.30. The deposit is 2.00 lower; the files do not explain why.
- BK-103 and BK-104: USD 52.00 appears once on each side, with different references. Keep the two exceptions separate.
3. Check whether the exception persisted
Run the second sample cycle. BK-102 now agrees, but the new BK-105 has different currencies. Do not net USD and CAD because their numeric values happen to agree. Open the relevant source rows and export the evidence you need to keep. Use the file validator first if your source contains duplicate keys.
