Compare an IT asset register with discovery data
Identify register-only, discovery-only and ambiguous asset IDs across an inventory register and a discovery snapshot.
How this check works
Inputs and matching rules
Use the following exports: Asset register, Independent discovery export.
- Use the same stable identifier namespace in both exports, such as manufacturer serials or managed device IDs.
- IDs are trimmed but remain case-sensitive. Hostnames and IP addresses are not used as identity substitutes.
- Duplicate identities are reported and excluded from attribute comparisons.
- Missing and unregistered IDs are review exceptions, not proof of loss, unauthorized devices or vulnerability.
- Compare exports with equivalent scope and time windows; this tool performs no network discovery.
Read the evidence
An asset missing from one scan may be offline or outside the discovery scope. Inspect the stable identifier and collection window before changing the asset register.
What the result can establish
Coverage of supplied exports only. Absence can reflect timing, scope or offline devices; presence does not prove authorization, security or compliance.
